Eligibility Review for Your Major

Read the following instructions carefully and complete the Eligibility Form before you reach your 60th credit at the College. This form enables the College to determine your eligibility to pursue the major of your choice. In order to meet the eligibility requirements, you must:

  • be currently enrolled in Baruch College

  • meet the specific requirements of your chosen major

You also must select a Tier 3 Minor in addition to your intended major. Be sure you have taken the time to explore the fields of study you plan to select before completing this form. Think about your interests, your strengths, and your values. Are you ready?

Here is the process:

  1. Select the Baruch School from which you wish to earn your Bachelor's degree by clicking on the corresponding link below. (Each link will indicate which majors reside in that School.)
  2. Read the requirements for pursuing your chosen major. Requirements to pursue a particular major will vary in terms of course prerequisites, earned GPA, and number of credits that you must earn before you apply. If you believe that you have met ALL the criteria, click on the "Complete the Online Major Eligibility Review Form" button below.
  3. Fill out all the required fields on the form and be sure to indicate which major and minor you wish to pursue. Note the application deadlines and response dates listed.
  4. After you have submitted your application, the School in which your chosen major resides will contact you to notify you about whether or not you have met the eligibility requirements to pursue that major. Here are the possible outcomes:
    • If you have met the eligibility requirements, you will automatically be able to pursue your chosen major and minor. (Note that if you are deemed eligible for a major in the Weissman School of Arts and Sciences or the School of Public Affairs, you MUST meet with a faculty advisor in that major as soon as possible in order for your major selection to be made official. Meeting with a faculty advisor is NOT required for declaring the Tier 3 Minor.)
    • If you are not accepted because you have not met all the entrance requirements for that major, be sure to complete those requirements before reapplying.

    • If you are not accepted because you are ineligible, speak with an advisor at the Center for Advisement and Orientation about choosing a different course of study.

  5. Once your eligibility has been verified, you will be contacted about meeting with a faculty advisor (WSAS or SPA) or accessing Blackboard sites dedicated to your chosen major and minor (ZSB). In either case, faculty advisors will provide you with information on course selection and opportunities in your field and answer your questions. Be sure to review the degree requirements for your chosen major and minor as outlined in the Undergraduate Bulletin. and be sure to complete the Core Curriculum..

Please note the following:

  • Check the deadline date that appears on the form before submitting it. Allow at least two weeks after the deadline before expecting to receive a response to your request via your Live @ Baruch email account.

  • Only currently matriculated Baruch students should fill out this application. If you are not yet a student at Baruch College and wish to apply, you need to contact the Office of Undergraduate Admissions.
